If you are hosting a shred event, conducting a food drive alongside it is a great way to keep nutritious food flowing to hard-hit communities throughout Oregon.

Six Easy Steps in Hosting a Food Drive

1. Contact a food assistance site near you to learn if they are receiving food donations and what food items are most needed.
2. Repurpose any bag, box, crate or container available to you to collect food donations. Post a sign of the most needed food items to help encourage donations.
3. Consider adding a financial contribution to your drive – funds go much further than food donations, and your support will help to bolster food distribution in hard-hit communities across the state. 
4. Share your food drive with colleagues, family, friends, neighbors, customers, and community. Use social media to help spread the word and tag us at @oregonfoodbank. 
5. Coordinate directly with the food assistance site on a day and time to  transport the food donations.
6. Share your story with us and your food drive successes with the community! Email the Oregon Food Bank at [email protected].
