“Willamette Valley Bank shows up everywhere, at every fundraiser, every community event – I always see Crystal and her team showing up and supporting us. They don’t say no. They’re there for the nonprofits helping those who need it most.” Crystal Tyndall, Branch Manager, Willamette Valley Bank, Albany At Willamette Valley Bank’s Albany branch, Crystal Tyndall manages three employees and works closely with the business development team to foster relationships across Linn and Benton counties. Though banking wasn’t the career path she originally imagined, she quickly discovered a passion for the work and the people she serves. “Willamette Valley Bank has become so much more than just a job—it feels like family,” she says. She enjoys getting to know the people in her community, building connections, and learning what makes Albany thrive. “I love getting to know people in my community, building connections, and creating lasting relationships,” she explains. “Albany has so much to offer, and it’s inspiring to see what makes our community thrive.” One example of this impact is Furniture Share, a nonprofit organization serving the greater Willamette Valley since 1998. Furniture Share collects and distributes furniture and household items to residents in need, ensuring all donations meet strict health and safety standards. For nearly two decades, Furniture Share struggled to provide retirement benefits for its dedicated employees, a challenge common among nonprofits. After building a meaningful relationship with CEO Michelle Robinson and gaining a deeper understanding of Furniture Share’s goals, Crystal helped the nonprofit open a specialized account at Willamette Valley Bank. Through the interest earned, Michelle was finally able to establish a retirement plan, giving the team the financial security they deserved. “The success of local businesses and organizations is directly tied to the success of our community,” she says. “We truly need one another to grow and thrive. I don’t like to see anyone fail, so I do everything I can to support and encourage local businesses to succeed.” Beyond her work with customers, Crystal is deeply involved in the Albany community. Volunteering is a personal passion: from city clean-ups and youth programs to calling bingo for seniors, she looks for ways to give back whenever she can. Her commitment reflects the values at the heart of community banking: supporting neighbors, lifting local businesses, and contributing to the well-being of the community. For Furniture Share, the impact has been tangible. “I’ve never been able to offer that kind of benefit before,” said Michelle. “But now, thanks to this account, I can provide my team with something that shows we value their future.” She added, “Willamette Valley Bank shows up everywhere, at every fundraiser, every community event – I always see Crystal and her team supporting us. They don’t say no. They’re there for the nonprofits helping those who need it most.” Through her dedication to both her customers and the community, Crystal exemplifies the human side of community banking—building relationships that strengthen small businesses, nonprofits and the communities they serve.
