FIST is a cooperative effort with members comprised of representatives from the bank and credit union industries, as well as representatives from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The sole purpose of FIST is to help reduce crimes committed against financial institutions, and by so doing, ensure the safety of staff and customers.
FIST also provides educational resources to its financial institution members to enhance their robbery, fraud and physical security awareness. Meetings are held quarterly and provide a forum in which the law enforcement community and financial institutions can meet to discuss crimes against financial institutions.

- Stimulate public assistance through reward programs/posters and media news events.
- Provide educational resources through training programs.
- Provide immediate fraud and/or scam alert information to financial institutions.
- Provide front-line staff training in security/robbery and fraud throughout the year at various locations around the state.
- Explore and promote all types of fraud deterrent systems.
- Monitor and, if appropriate, attempt to direct legislative efforts as they relate to security and/or crimes against financial institutions.
